"God rest ye, merry gentlemen Let nothing you dismay Remember Christ our Savior Was born on Christmas Day To save us all from Satan's pow'r When we were gone astray Oh, tidings of comfort and joy”
This time of year, the word “joy” is splattered everywhere. I’ve used it myself in a recent post or two. We sing about it, show commercials of joyful holiday gatherings. Some people got married this year. Some had babies. Some graduated college or got a new job. Joy.
Yet…
I think about friends and relatives who have lost spouses and children. This is an especially difficult time of year for them. I think of folks who have lost jobs or navigate toxic work cultures. Folks who have been sick or struggle with emotional issues. Or deal with myriad other difficulties of life.
People need comfort AND joy. Not just during a pandemic, but always. Be gentle and kind.
