Sometimes we have too many opportunities. If you have a variety of skills, or interests in a lot of areas, it’s easy to get pulled toward all of them. You get invitations to do all sorts of things, whether they are your primary focus or not. I think of my life as having “assignments” that align with my purpose, my passion, and my talents. Knowing what is my assignment and what is not helps sort through the choices and stay on track.
This photo (captured long ago from a newspaper magazine) speaks so clearly to me. It is the compass that points to my north star. If you want to get where you are going, you need to stay in your lane. Pay attention to the signs. Obey your signal only.
