What Do You Want to Be When You Grow Up?

Sometimes when people ask what kind of coaching I do, I tell them “What do you want to be when you grow up?” coaching. They immediately get it more readily than a description that falls into a neat executive summary.

Most of us have had that “now what?” experience after we’ve dotted all the “i”s and crossed all the “t”s of the careful education and career trajectory. It’s not just 30-somethings, but also 50 and 60-somethings who find them wondering, “I thought there’d be more to life than this.”

Part of it is that we had partial information when we were choosing career paths. Part of it is that we had limited understanding of the information we did have. Part of it is that world has changed. There are new options and some of the old options have disappeared. Hopefully a large part of it is that WE have changed.
