Self Care and Well Being

This month I have a series of posts on well-being. I thought about calling it “summer self-care,” but it really is year-round self-care. These are fundamental aspects of taking care of our bodies and brains so that they continue to function well for us. We sometimes adopt unhealthy habits because of our culture and environment. Maybe you could eat whatever you wanted when you were younger and not gain weight, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t having an effect on your brain and other internal organs. Now that you are older and the results are more noticeable, you might be a bit more aware of the consequences.

I will be focusing on the importance of developing and protecting habits of rest, healthy eating, maintaining movement, learning, and time with friends. (If you already have all that down pat, humor me for a month.) I personally have read a lot on these topics and still find it a challenge to consistently do the things that I know will help me live my best life. Perhaps you are in the same boat and something will click for you to make one small change in a healthier direction. If so, read on.
