6am. CHIRP. There had been random chirps over the months. Two more recently. CHIRP. This was not going to be random, nor was it going away.
So much for going back to sleep. Out to the garage for the ladder. To the utility room for the battery. At least it wasn’t 2am. I fed the smoke alarm a new battery, as it demanded. CHIRP. Maybe it’s in backwards. CHIRP. I don’t know how old this alarm is, it might be the device needs to be replace. Pull the device off the ceiling, untangle the wires and dismantle the connection. CHIRP.
I happen to glance over at the wall and notice that the CO detector is displaying an error signal. Unplugged the CO alarm, removed the battery – and amazing – chirp solved.
I did replace the smoke alarm, since I already had it dismantled. That’s another story. But no amount of tangling with that solved the wrong problem.
