Me and my big mouth

how, sometimes, saying the wrong thing can be the right thing

I have lost track of the number of times I have spoken up in a meeting, only to think later “Me and my big mouth.” Usually, I am the one who thinks a little differently than the rest of the group, maybe outside the box, maybe ahead of the pack, but not what people were expecting to hear. About the time I am berating myself for my lack of discretion, someone will approach me afterward or send me and email that starts, “Thank you for what you said in that meeting…” Usually it’s someone who needed to hear my perspective, feel that there were options other than the status quo, and was encouraged to have an ally.

Different people at different times had told me that they count on me to have a alternative view or to respond to a question in a way no one else would respond. So it was no surprise when I finally put my “why” into words: I turn the kaleidoscope so that we can see things a little differently.

What a lovely surprise to discover this wonderful site when I was wishing you a happy birthday, my friend! Congratulations on this venture. This is so relevant. It is a much needed service in this time of confusion, anxiety and misdirection. I spent the last employed years of my life administrating a dermatology clinic and managing from 15 to 52 employees. So many times I was the “goto” person to motivate, encourage and help employees get through life. Such an important job that you are doing. Be blessed in this journey my friend and may the Lord continue to use you. Hugs.

How wonderful to hear from you! I’m surprised this popped up, but glad.
Thank you for the feedback. As I start to think about what to do as I transition out of full time, working-for-someone else employment, it was time to get this up and running.
Hugs to you and your family!
