Part 1 – Gifting
Full disclosure – I have never seen the Spiderman movies. This isn’t a movie critique. It isn’t an educated guess about what’s going on in the MCU However, the algorithms have been feeding me clips and I’ve started piecing some lessons together.
Peter Parker is an ordinary nerdy young person. He’s awkward. His friends are awkward. But he ends up with supernatural powers. He at least has enough sense to use these powers for good. He doesn’t brag about them. He doesn’t go around telling people. Rather he tries pretty hard to keep it a secret.
Tony, then Ned, then MJ figure it out by paying attention and by being in relationship. He needs them and he has to trust them. Tony tries to draft him and give him a platform. Peter declines. He prefers to stay on the ground and stay in his lane.
(I realize I’m missing lots of the plot, but this is about what I’m learning.)
Parallels – The Holy Spirit gives us amazing supernatural gifts. The great thing would be to walk in humility and carry out whatever good is in our sphere. Wisdom might be to keep that identity to ourselves and not need public recognition or praise.
I wish I’d understood the value of hiddenness when I was younger. That you can be really effective and making a difference without everyone knowing what you are doing.
